Key Features

Every component chosen for durability, fleet flexibility, and operational confidence. Built to last and built to work.

Galvanized Chassis

ST52 / S355J2+N STEELWELDED FRAME

Protection That Lasts the Lifetime of the Trailer.

Hot-dip galvanized full chassis provides long-term corrosion resistance — helping protect the trailer against road salt, moisture, and the elements that shorten the service life of painted alternatives.

ZINC BONDED

Metallurgically Bonded Zinc

The zinc coating is metallurgically bonded to the steel — not a paint layer. It cannot peel, chip, or flake. Road salt, moisture, and UV have no lasting effect on the chassis.

LIFECYCLE VALUE

Stronger Lifecycle Value

No repainting cycles. No surface degradation under normal operating conditions. The galvanized chassis retains its protection throughout the full service life of the trailer.

Drawbar Connection

RIGID COUPLING

Connects to Any Towing Vehicle.

Front drawbar connection via a tow bar and tow eye — compatible with a truck, tractor unit, or another trailer. Coupling height can be fixed or adjustable for fleet compatibility.

ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT

Adjustable Drawbar Height

Coupling height can be produced to your required specification. An adjustable drawbar height system can be added for fleets using different towing vehicles across their operation.

AXLE BRANDS

Your Choice of Axle Brand

Axle brand can be selected according to your market and service network: TRAX, GIGANT, BPW, or SAF — so spare parts remain accessible wherever you operate.

Axle Layouts

FLAT DECKLASHING RINGS

Multiple Axle Configurations.

Available in 1+2, 2+2, 2+3, 2+4, and other project-defined layouts — so the trailer matches your route rules, payload strategy, and legal load distribution requirements.

BALANCED LAYOUT

Stable Tracking

Balanced axle layouts deliver stable road tracking and confident braking — especially important for fleets running intensive routes with variable cargo profiles.

EXTENDABLE

Extendable Chassis Option

When cargo length changes, the trailer adapts — extendable chassis configurations are available for long loads, project cargo, and fleets that carry both standard and long materials.

Equipment & Options

AIR SUSPENSIONEBS BRAKING

Equipped for Real Operations.

STU drawbar trailers can be equipped and tailored with the trailer equipment operators ask for most in real daily use — from ramp solutions to load securing, landing legs, side extensions, and LED lighting.

Material & Engineering FAQs

What is a remorque drawbar trailer?

A remorque is a drawbar trailer towed behind a rigid truck using a rigid drawbar coupling — as opposed to a semi-trailer towed by an articulated tractor unit. The combination of rigid truck plus remorque allows operators to significantly increase payload capacity without investing in a full articulated fleet.

Technical Details:Drawbar trailers connect to the towing vehicle via a ball or pin coupling at the front of the drawbar. Air brake supply, return, and electrical connections are made at the same coupling point.

What chassis material is used on the STU 3-axle remorque?

The chassis is manufactured from ST52 (S355J2+N) high-strength structural steel — the industry standard for heavy European trailer construction. The full-length main beams and cross-members are precision welded to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural integrity throughout the service life.

Technical Details:S355J2+N provides 355 MPa minimum yield strength with excellent weldability and impact toughness at low temperatures, suitable for all European climate conditions.

What suspension system does the remorque use?

The trailer is equipped with a 3-axle air suspension system. Air suspension maintains a constant ride height as the load varies, protects cargo from road shock, and distributes the load evenly across all three axles to remain within European regulatory axle load limits.

Technical Details:Air suspension systems use pressurised bellows instead of leaf springs, providing a softer ride and the ability to level the trailer for loading at different dock heights.

What braking system is fitted?

The trailer uses an EBS (Electronic Braking System) — an electronically-controlled air braking system that modulates brake force at each individual axle in response to the deceleration demanded by the towing vehicle. EBS reduces stopping distances, improves stability under partial load, and ensures even brake lining wear.

Technical Details:EBS complies with EC Regulation 13 (heavy vehicle braking). It includes ABS anti-lock functionality as standard and can be integrated with the tractor unit's EBS for optimised truck-trailer braking coordination.

What cargo can the remorque transport?

The flat deck platform is designed for versatile cargo including: general palletised freight, construction machinery, steel sections and long materials, ISO containers, agricultural equipment, and industrial components. Optional side boards convert the open deck into a contained platform for bulk or loose materials.

Technical Details:The full-length lashing rings on both sides of the deck allow cargo restraint in accordance with EN 12195 standards for load securing.

What is the load capacity?

The standard configuration carries between 15 and 25 tonnes payload depending on the axle specification, chassis length, and destination country road regulations. Exact permissible payload depends on the towing vehicle's gross train weight rating and local axle load limits.

Technical Details:European road regulations typically allow 24 tonnes on a 3-axle trailer with 1.3 m or more axle spacing, subject to gross train weight limits of the tractor-trailer combination.

Can the remorque be customised?

Yes. STU TRAILERS® configures the platform length, side board specification, axle rating, coupling geometry, and finish colour to the customer's exact fleet requirements. We work directly with operators to ensure the trailer integrates seamlessly into their existing rigid truck fleet.

Technical Details:Typical lead time is 8–16 weeks from order confirmation depending on specification and current production schedule. Contact us for current availability.

What lighting system is fitted?

A full LED lighting suite compliant with European road traffic regulations is installed as standard, including rear combination lamps (stop, tail, indicator), side marker lamps, and licence plate illumination. All lights connect to the towing vehicle via standard 7-pin or 15-pin electrical sockets.

Technical Details:LED lighting complies with EU Directive 76/756/EEC and related amendments. Low power draw and long service life reduce maintenance costs compared to conventional bulb systems.
